Religious Studies AS/A2 at Sir Frederic Osborn School

Course description

Religious Studies is ideally suited to
students who have enquiring minds
and who enjoy considering open ended questions. They should also
enjoy debate, discussion and argument.
Ethics focuses on theories about how and why we act, Philosophy
is the history of ideas about life.
At AS, students study the Philosophy of Religion, which deals with
traditional arguments for the existence of God, and challenges to
religious belief; and Religious Ethics which covers ethical theory and
practical ethics such as dilemmas faced currently in medicine.
At A2 Philosophy focuses on the way we talk and think about God
and issues of Faith. In Ethics students will build upon ethical theory
and applied ethics such as the role of the conscience.
Religious Studies A level is highly respected by colleges and
universities, and students could go on to study a variety of subjects
at Higher Education.

Entry requirements

Grade A*-C if taken at GCSEEnglish GCSE A*-C*APS: 40 or above
