Painting and Decorating Apprenticeship Level 3 at Isle of Wight College

Course description

This course is for anyone currently employed as a Painter or Decorator who is looking to move onto a supervisory role. The course includes both theory and practical skills which are put into practice in the workplace. The Advanced Apprenticeship requires academic work to be completed alongside assessments which will require a higher level of competency and evidence than the Intermediate.

The Advanced Apprenticeship is usually undertaken by learners who have had some industry experience or who have previously completed a Level 2 qualification.

Course content

The Advanced Apprenticeship Framework in Painting and Decorating will give you the skills and knowledge that you will need to build a career as a Painter or Decorator.

The Advanced Apprenticeship Framework includes the following:

  • Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Painting and Decorating
  • Level 2 Functional Skills in Numeracy and Literacy
  • ERR (Employment Rights and Responsibilities)
  • PLTS (Personal Learning and Thinking Skills)

Entry requirements

C and above in Maths and English or equivalent or ability to gain Level 2 Functional Skills.

Assessment

You will attend The Isle of Wight College on a day release, one day per week for the underpinning knowledge and some practical input. You will also be reviewed and assessed approx every 4-6 weeks in the workplace by a member of our team.

Future opportunities

Many employers will tend to keep their Apprentices on after they complete their Apprenticeship but permanent employment is not guaranteed after learners complete their apprenticeship and you will be fully qualified so could become self employed.
