History A Level at Stratford-upon-Avon College

Course description

What factors have shaped the world we live in today? How is the present affected by the past?

A Level history is a subject for the curious – for those who want to find explanations for the way the world is. We are all strongly influenced by our understanding of what has happened in the past. The variety of places, people, thoughts, actions and events you will encounter is enormous. Why would the British people be prepared to execute their own king in 1649? How was it possible for around six million innocent people to lose their lives during WW2? Why were African-Americans persecuted and treated like second class citizens in their own country? To answer these and many other questions, A Level History requires you to think, enjoy and argue!
