Photography and Multimedia at The EDGE School of Creative and Business - Level 3 at East Kent College

Course description

Perfect if you wish to develop academic and practical skills to make professional photography and multimedia work.

Course content

You will undertake professional assignments such as producing a range of location, studio, travel, street, fashion and reportage photographs. There is a strong focus on developing academic and practical skills to enable you to evolve as a media professional in your chosen pathway. You will explore the broad use of photographic images and use industry standard kit to develop skills in areas such as specialist location and studio photography and professional image manipulation techniques. Our students often work on professional contracts through our creative agency and this can develop into paid work whilst you study.

You will learn also learn to shoot and edit films, create animations and advertising campaigns. You can look forward to being taught by our experienced industry professionals and visiting professional photographers.

Your Study Programme will include English and maths at an appropriate level, and it will support the development of skills towards employability and suitability to progress onto the next level of study.

Entry requirements

4 Cs or 4s and a relevant full level 2.

Assessment

Assessment will be through a combination or practical, written, and presentation assignments. This is a mainly practical programme using research and written work as supporting evidence and development of knowledge and understanding. Continual assessments occur throughout the course.

Financial information

If you are 16-18yrs old at the start of the Study Programme, it will be free. There may be additional payments required for trips, visits and other materials. For adult learners (over 19) financial support towards the costs of your Study Programme may be available. Eligible students may be able to get help with course related costs such as travel, equipment and childcare.

Please note: For those claiming state working age benefit this course is classed as part-time.

Future opportunities

We offer this course as a one year Diploma or two year Extended Diploma, equivalent to three A Levels. On successful completion you could gain employment within the creative industry, alternatively you could choose to work in a freelance capacity. If you choose to continue your education you could progress on to a higher education course at either college or university.
