Chemistry AS/A2 Level at Kings Priory School

Course description

This is a modern and relevant Chemistry course which provides a streamlined progression through units, leading to certification at AS and A2 level. The course has been written in conjunction with the Royal Society of Chemistry and industry experts GlaxoSmithKline.

It is organised into logically sequenced teaching units, each of which is freestanding and tells its own story about modern applications of Chemistry. It is appropriate for learners of varying aptitudes, giving clear guidance for less able learners, yet remaining rigorous and challenging for higher –achieving learners

Course content

In year 12 many of the topics will be familiar from your GCSE Science course, but will be covered in much more depth, to give you a real understanding of the chemical world.

In year 13, you will develop the concepts studied in the foundation modules. A greater emphasis is placed on using knowledge to problem solve and emphasis frontier areas of Chemistry. It is aimed to provide a rigorous and stimulating treatment of Chemistry that lays appropriate foundations for future studies, and satisfies those who will study the subject no further.

The course is modular with examination sittings in June in both years 12 and 13.
