Sports and Exercise Science BTEC at Paston Sixth Form College

Course description

Taken alongside a further qualification related to your chosen field, for example A level Biology or Mathematics or Psychology, or a BTEC Certificate in Business, this qualification is for learners who are intending to study towards a degree in the sport and exercise sector. It comprises key examined units in functional anatomy and physiology related to sports and exercise and includes units on applied psychology, fitness testing, research methods and sports coaching which are assessed by externally set tasks or coursework.

Entry requirements

Vocational Programme:
Minimum of 5 C grades (or new grade 4) at GCSE or Distinction/ Merit in a relevant BTEC First Diploma (or equivalent) plus 1 grade C (or new grade 4) at GCSE.

You must also study English/ Maths GCSE if you have not already achieved grade 4 or old C grade in these subjects.

Mixed Programme:
If you wish to mix A levels with vocational courses, you must meet entry requirements for the bigger part of your programme:

2 A levels plus a single award vocational course - A level programme requirements
Double award vocational plus 1 A level - vocational programme entry requirements, plus any subject specific requirements for the chosen A level.

You must also study English/ Maths GCSE if you have not already achieved grade 4 or old C grade in these subjects.
