Health and Social Care Level 2 at Hoople Ltd

Course description

This apprenticeship covers a wide range of job roles on two pathways: the adult social care pathway and the health care pathway.

This means that students who study for an apprenticeship in Health and Social Care could end up working in the NHS, the private sector, local authorities or in the voluntary sectors.

For Health and Social Care there is a four week induction programme which includes personal hygiene, moving and handling and basic clinical skills such as nutrition, helping people to go to the toilet, communication skills, dementia awareness and documentational care planning.

During the main course, each learner carries out a variety of units relevant to their own particular job setting. These range from dementia care to infection control or pressure area care. The course is delivered by a highly experienced team, many of whom are either former nurses or experienced Care Home staff.

We also are running a new programme which covers an adult social care pathway for personal assistants. This includes skills that are transferable across the health and social care sector. There will be an induction and three further quarterly sessions. The remainder of the qualification is carried out in the workplace. The apprentice will be paid to attend the sessions away from the workplace, enabling their employer to pay for cover at no extra cost.

During the main course, each learner will carry out a variety of units from the QCF relevant to the personal assistant job setting. These range from dementia care to infection control or pressure area care, Supporting daily living skills and independence, Supporting leisure and developmental activities, Supporting people with physical and /or multiple disability, medication, Autism awareness, Understanding learning disability, Supporting people with sensory impairments.
