Business Studies - A Level at Bourne Grammar School
The AS units focus on setting up and running small businesses, with an emphasis on what makes a good entrepreneur.
The A2 units focus on successful management decision-making in more established businesses. There is a particular focus on the international dimension.
The aim of the course is to encourage the development of a critical understanding
of organisations from the perspectives of a range of stakeholders, the markets they
serve, the environment in which they operate and the process of adding value.
The course lays an appropriate foundation for further study of business Studies or related subjects in higher education. Equally, the material studied is useful for students intending to pursue careers in any area of business.
Students need to have a genuine interest in business and how business contributes
to meeting society’s needs.
Students are expected to follow the business news in some detail.
Students are expected to work independently and imaginatively in finding solutions to business problems. Enterprise is a key concept, and students need an enterprising attitude to their own learning.
