Religious Studies ( Ethics & Philosophy) A Level at Cotswold Edge Sixth Form

Course description

AS: Foundations: Design argument, cosmological argument, evil and suffering, miracles, religion and morality, utilitarianism and situation ethics. Investigations: A study of medical ethics (abortion)

A2 Developments: Religious experience, ontological argument, atheism, religious language, life after death, religion and morality and ethical theories. Implications: The study of three texts: religious experience, religious language and the change in philosophy.

Entry requirements

For all Level 3 courses, students are expected to have achieved a minimum of 5 GGSEs at grade C or equivalent. For A Levels this should include both English and Maths.

Assessment

AS: An exam of 1 hour 45 minutes. An exam of 1 hour 15 minutes based on a personal area of study. This year’s study is based on Medical Ethics.

A2: An exam of 1 hour 45 minutes. An exam of 1 hour 15 minutes based on three different texts.

Future opportunities
