Business (Retail) BTEC Level 3 Diploma at Acton High School

Course description

The BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Retail is an in depth course that gives students an insight into the world of retail business. Through vocational learning students will develop an understanding of the role that business plays in the lives of everyone. BTEC Level 3 Retail will give students usable employment skills which in the current economic climate will be of great importance. The course also places a large focus on enterprise, giving students a taste of what they can expect if they open their own business. The course is equivalent to two A Levels.

Unit 8: Recruitment and Selection Process
Unit 15: Investigating Retail Business
Unit 28: Investigating the Business Environment
Unit 29: Customer Service in Retail
Unit 30: Retailing in Food and Fashion

Additional units (4 will be chosen)

Unit 9: Team Building in Business
Unit 16: Visual Merchandising
Unit 27: Work Experience in Business
Unit 31: Buying for Business
Unit 32: Supply Chain Operations
Unit 33: Marketing Planning

Entry requirements

GCSE English at grade D or above

Future opportunities

A BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Retail can lead to a range of possible career paths in the retail sector including store planning, store management, finance and HR. The vocational skills that students acquire from the course would mean that they would a have a sound foundation from which to think about starting their own business enterprise or for beginning on a career path within the retail sector.
