Biology at Branston Community Academy

Course description

During the course of study a student following the Biology AS/A level will develop an understanding of principles first met during GCSE. The course aims to develop essential knowledge of biological facts, concepts and principles. The topics develop from an understanding of the processes of life at a sub-cellular and cellular level, through to the interaction of cells to form complex intercellular organisms. The course can provide training in experimental skills and design, developing abilities to undertake a line of inquiry, analyse data and form conclusions.

Entry requirements

A*-B in both GCSE Science and Additional Science or A*-B in GCSE Biology. A Grade C in GCSE Mathematics is desirable.

Future opportunities

Biology allows a wide variety of further studies to be undertaken in the field of life sciences and ecological sciences.
