Maintenance & Repair Principles (Vehicle) IMI Level 3 Diploma at Grantham College
This practical, work-related course aims to build on the Level 2 course with more analytical content. You learn by completing projects, practical tasks and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands.
Level 3 in Automotive Maintenance and Repair Principles Light Vehicles - This is one year programme reflecting the skills and knowledge needed to carry tasks in the automotive industry.
The qualification is made up of both core and optional units covering a wide range of knowledge areas:
You will take three core subjects:
- Contribute to work place good housekeeping
- Ensure your own actions reduce risks to health & safety
- Maintain positive working relationships.
You will also take five specialist units:
- Diagnose and rectify engine and component faults
- Diagnose and rectify chassis system faults
- Diagnose and rectify auxiliary equipment electrical faults
- Inspect vehicles
- Identify and agree customer vehicle needs.
You may be required to continue to study English, maths or IT as part of your course.
5 GCSEs including maths and science (Grade C or above) or IMI Level 2 Award.
Practical and theoretical continual assessment, which will include formal written and online tests for all study units. All of your evidence will be electronically housed in an ePortfolio
Full Time Further Education courses are free for those who are under 19 on 31 August of the year they start their course. Exam resit fees may apply if and when applicable.
This qualification helps you to progress on to higher level qualifications or an Advanced Modern Apprenticeship. This VRQ offers an ideal step to the Vocational Competence Qualification (VCQ) for those who are employed, and wish to continue with their studies, as the knowledge at Level 3 meets that of the related VCQ
