Beauty Therapy Level 2 Diploma at Mid Cheshire College

Course description

This programme includes the following mandatory units:
Health and safety; client care and communication; provide facial skincare; remove hair using waxing techniques; provide eyelash and brow treatment; provide manicure treatments; provide pedicure treatments.

Optional units include:
Display stock to promote sales in a salon; instruction on make-up application.At times, all students will be expected to introduce new clients to the salon in order to help with practical assessments.

Course content

This course includes a Study Programme to provide learners with a coherent and enriching curriculum which will provide them with the academic, social and employability skills to progress to further or higher education or employment.

The content of the study programme is designed to broaden the learner experience beyond the main qualification of study.

The key theme of Study Programmes at Level 2 will be the development of occupational skills in a selected vocational area and the development of personal, social and employability skills with a view to raising aspirations.

As well as your core qualification you will study GCSE or Functional Skills English or Maths plus English and maths development as part of the core qualification.

Learners will also undertake personal progress planning and pastoral education. Plus additional personal development activity which may include work experience and projects.

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs at grade D or above or equivalent.

Assessment

Assessment is through a formal online and written examinations, practical observation and written assignments. Several hours of homework, both written and practical, are required each week. All final work must be submitted in a portfolio of evidence.

Future opportunities

On successful completion of this course, students will be able to progress on to NVQ Level 3 in Beauty Therapy/Spa or VRQ Level 2 in Hairdressing.
