ICT - AS/A2 at The John Roan School

Course description

In an ever changing world, employers need employees with technological and informational skills who have the ability to gather process and manipulate data. The course is designed to equip students with those skills. The AS course is a stand-alone qualification but it can also be submitted as the first half of the Advanced GCE. There are two mandatory units at AS level. AS Units Unit 1: Is externally assessed through question papers based on various types of data, knowledge of ICT applications and systems. Unit 2: Is internally assessed through practical tasks based on design, software development, testing and documentation. A2 Units A2 is made up of 2 mandatory units completed at AS level and a further 2 at A level. Both A2 units are coursework assessed one being externally and the other internally. Coursework content will be investigating ICT applications, implications and implementing of ICT based systems, design, software development, documentation and evaluation. Additional Information This course is for students who would enjoy learning a variety of ICT techniques in real world situations.
