Plumbing Studies Level 2 Diploma at Hartlepool College of Further Education

Course description

This qualification is aimed at learners who have progressed from a Level 1 Diploma in Plumbing Studies or a similar construction related qualification.

Course content

The Level 2 Diploma develops learner's plumbing and heating skills at an intermediate level. The course covers a wide range of skills designed to make you 'industry ready'. You will develop a range of skills including installation, commissioning and maintenance.

The course units you will study are:

  • Cold water systems
  • Domestic hot water systems
  • Above ground drainage and discharge
  • Central heating systems - pipework
  • Electrical supply and earth continuity systems
  • Environmental awareness
  • Health, safety and welfare key principles and common processes

Entry requirements

Entrants to this course will normally have undertaken the Level 1 Diploma in Plumbing.

Assessment

You will be assessed on your practical skills and the knowledge you gain through practical tasks and on-line end of unit tests.

Future opportunities

You can progress on to a Level 3 Diploma in Plumbing & Heating or become an Apprentice to become a qualified plumber or heating engineer. If you wish to trade as a plumber you will need to obtain a work placement/job and complete the 6189 competence NVQ Diploma.
