BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Production Arts (Technical) at Newcastle-under-Lyme College

Course description

During your time on the course you will have the opportunity to explore technical theatre through a range of specialist areas. We will enhance your knowledge and prepare you for university or apprenticeships (there is an acknowledged skills shortage in technical theatre and it provides most opportunities nationally for creative Apprenticeships).

This two year programme provides a thorough grounding in both sides of Theatre Production from The Historical context of Performance, Production Planning and Production Performance, Front of House management and Operations, Events Management to the more technical side such as Stage Management, Stage Technical Maintenance, Stage Lighting Design and Operation, Stage Sound Design and Live Sound for the Stage.

As part of your study programme here at the College alongside your chosen course you will complete a maths and/or English qualification if you have not already achieved a grade C or above. (This will be a GCSE for all students with a grade D).

The study programme will also incorporate a range of work related experience activities to ensure that you have the breadth of skills required to progress to further/higher education, employment or an apprenticeship.

You will need to have four or more GCSE at grade A* to C including maths and English or an equivalent full Level 2 qualification.
