Media at Toot Hill School

Course description

Media Studies is a popular course at Toot Hill College that offers students a diverse and contemporary curriculum that can be tailored to their interests. With opportunities for extracurricular enrichment and high engagement, it is no surprise that Media students are successful at Toot Hill year on year. The course offers a balance between practical creativity and critical analysis as well as developing many transferrable skills. The course gives students the experience of digital photography, video editing, image manipulation, desktop publishing, website design, blogs and viral marketing campaigns. The course is designed to allow students to:

Enhance their enjoyment and appreciation of the media and its role in their daily lives

Develop critical understanding of the media through engagement with media products and concepts and through the creative application of practical skills

Explore production processes, technologies and other relevant contexts

Become independent in research skills and their application in practical work and in developing their own views and interpretations.

Entry requirements

Five A*- C Including English (GCSEs in ICT, Media Studies, Business Studies and Art are also desirable but not essential).
