Photography AS level at Nower Hill High School

Course description

The course is designed to enable students to develop personal responses to ideas, observations, experiences, environments and cultures. This will mainly be through lens and light based media.

Course content

The course comprises two components which are internally marked, verified and externally moderated.

  • Component 1  Abandonment (60% of AS)
  • Component 2  Exam (40% of AS)

Entry requirements

You are not required to have studied Photography in advance, but if you studied Photography as a GCSE subject, you must have achieved Grade C or above.

Assessment

  • Exams 40%  
  • Coursework 60%

Future opportunities

Students can progress to a foundation course or to high education courses or employment in the field of Design, Communication and Media.

It is recommended that you have access to your own Single Lens reflex 35mm film and digital camera.
