Hairdressing (NVQ) Level 3 Diploma at South Cheshire College

Course description

This course is for anyone who wishes to further their hairdressing training and has completed Hairdressing Level 2. Some of the units will be timetabled on a flexible basis and the hours will be approximately 14 - 16 hours per week. The units of this course are health and safety, promotion of products and services, consultation, finance, creative hairdressing, creative cutting and styling, long hair work, creative colouring and promotional activities.

Course content

This course is aimed at qualified hairdressers wishing to further develop their skills and creative ability, as a progression from the NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Haidressing. The Level 3 Diploma in Hairdressing enables you to gain a job-ready qualification. This qualification will prepare you with the required attributes, skills, knowledge and understanding needed to perform professional services for clients via employment or self-employment in the Hairdressing industry. You will be working with a variety of clients in our commerical busy Element salons to help achieve the necessary assessments needed for your course.

The course covers a wide range of hairdressing topics to bring you up to the highest standards including:

  • Creative Cutting Techniques
  • Develop and Enhance Creative Skills
  • Colour Using a Variety of Techniques
  • Style and Dress Hair to Achieve a Variety of Creative Looks
  • Style and Dress Long Hair
  • Colour Correction Services
  • Providing Hairdressing Consultation Services
  • Health and Safety
  • Promote Additional Services and Products.

Entry requirements

NVQ Level 2 in Hairdressing, or equivalent industry experience and a high level of motivation, plus completion of a practical skills test. You will be required to take part in and attend a number of external events outside normal college hours.

Future opportunities

From this course you can progress into employment as a hairdresser, or continue on further part-time courses such as barbering. You could also progress onto a degree course in Hairdressing or Salon Management.

    • South Cheshire College is situated in Dane Bank Avenue, Crewe and is ideally positioned for easy access. It is on major bus routes and is less than a 15 minute walk from the mainline railway station in Crewe. Junctions 16 and 17 of the M6 motorway are both only a 15 minute drive away and Manchester International airport is just 45 minutes away by rail or road.
