Why choose Government and Politics?

A level Government and Politics provides a foundation of skills which prove extremely useful in Higher Education. It is a qualification that will be welcomed by any employer and particularly so for a career in Law, Business Management, Media, Journalism or public service. If you have studied the Humanities subjects, especially History, this course is a natural progression route and a wellrespected A level for university entries.

What does the course involve?

The course is a great way for students to become more informed about the world around them. Students will reach a greater understanding of how important politics is and the impact it has on all our lives on a day-to-day basis.

For many, the study of Government and Politics will be a new experience. It is an opportunity to do something fresh and new that provides a foundation of skills valued by Higher Education providers.

At AS level, students will develop an understanding of the UK’s Political System and at A2 there are units that cover American Politics, Terrorism, War, Poverty and Human Rights.

Entry requirements

Grade C in English and History if it was taken at GCSE.
