Art and Design (Level 2) at Central College Nottingham
This course provides you with the opportunity to develop a range of skills and techniques in the fields of art, graphic design, photography and related digital media. You will work practically with a range of traditional visual arts media. You will use technical resources, software and equipment that are of a professional standard. The course allows you the chance to develop your skills and to acquire a new level of understanding about Art and Design. Individuals discover their strengths by working across a range of projects. There are visits to galleries and you will enjoy taking part in discussions about your work and the work of others.

You will also study Functional Skills in English and Maths. English and Maths are an essential part of your studies and will help you succeed on your course. These subjects will help you develop confidence and are the key employability skills that all employers now look for when recruiting.
One of the following:
- 4 GCSEs at grades A*-D including English Language and Maths*
- A relevant Level 1 qualification including GCSE English Language and Maths* at grade A*-D
*If you do not have both GCSE English Language and Maths at A*-D, we may accept one of them at Grade E in addition to your 4 GCSEs at A*-D. Functional Skills may be accepted instead of GCSE English and/or Maths. Functional Skills Level 1 is equivalent to GCSE Grade D and Level 2 to GCSE Grade C.
Adults who are aged 19+ without the necessary qualifications are welcome to apply.
You will produce a portfolio of work for continuous and ongoing assessment throughout the year. You will take external tests set by the Awarding Body.

To support your application we will ask you to bring in a school report and a portfolio of work which demonstrates your ability and potential.
Materials used on the course can be purchased from the College shop based at your centre. There will be costs for trips and visits and these will be discussed at interview.
