Course description
If you’ve had a taste of performing in front of an audience and are hungry for more, or you’ve got a hidden talent for acting or singing and need a bit of help to bring it out of you, this is the perfect course.
Our links with the industry give you lots of opportunities to gain an insight into the industry, and you never know who will be sitting in the audience at your end of year show!
Performing arts can lead to successful careers in a range of disciplines including teaching, management within the industry, theatre technician or professional actor for stage or screen.

Course content
You’ll learn all about the performing arts industry and will develop your skills in acting and voice work.
You’ll enjoy trips to theatre shows and galleries and learn about the many areas that make up the performing arts industry. The course itself will help you develop your skills in:
- Performance work (productions, etc)
- The performing arts business
- Understanding drama
- Scripted plays
- Technical theatre
- Singing
Students will need to have a flexible approach and be able to participate in group work.
Entry requirements
Students must have ONE of the following:
• 4 GCSEs (3 at grades A*-D and 1 at grade A*-E), including English & Maths
• Level 1 Creative & Media Foundation Diploma or Level 1 Diploma in Performing Arts at merit, plus GCSE English & Maths (1 at grade A*-D and 1 at grade A*-E)
• Equivalent qualifications - Functional Skills may be accepted in place of GCSE Maths and/or English
An audition involving group exercises is required.
Adults 19+ who have industry experience but do not have the necessary qualifications are welcome to apply.

Assessment
You will be assessed on practical tasks, projects and productions, supported by a record of written evidence.
