Engineering (Mechanical) BTEC Advanced Diploma Level 3 at Fareham College

Course description

On this course, you will develop a creative approach to analysis and problem solving with regard to the design, manufacture and maintenance of mechanical systems.

Our workshops are well-equipped with a wide range of testing equipment, machine tools, new CNC lathe and milling machines, a 3D printer and access to CAD software.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at grade C or above including Maths, English and Science, or a Level 2 qualification in Engineering.

Financial information

Students will be required to purchase and wear overalls, steel toe cap safety shoes and safety glasses. A list of professional clothing will be supplied at your application interview.

Future opportunities

This qualification will demonstrate that you have significant knowledge and skill working in a mechanical engineering environment.

Students can advance to an Apprenticeships, Higher Education or find employment where specific practical training will be given.

Many successful students choose to study their HNC/HND within an Apprenticeship programme.

    • All Automotive, Engineering and Manufacturing courses run by Fareham College are conducted at our Centre of Excellence in Engineering, Manufacturing and Advanced Skills Training, or CEMAST, campus on the Daedalus airfield in Lee-on-the-Solent.

      The site is the central training facility for over 900 Full Time and Part Time Students, and acts as the main learning centre for students in apprenticeship programmes with our partner companies – BAE Systems, GE Aviation, Virgin Atlantic, Coopervision, Burgess Marine, Jensen Motorsport to mention but a few.

      CEMAST offers future students a choice of career first and course second. Our focus is to provide all of the knowledge that any Student will need to enter their chosen field and effectively prepare them for work and/or higher study.
