Course description

Have you ever thought about how the role of a Warehouse Operative contributes to the growth of the UK's economy? It relies on the efficient movement of goods to ensure that products arrive on time and in the right condition. As a Warehousing and Storage apprentice you will work in a business which plays a crucial part in making this happen! As an apprentice you will achieve valuable occupational competence within a warehousing and storage role. You will be employed. The majority of your training/learning will take place within your workplace. On completion of the Apprenticeship you will gain a suite of vocational qualifications which form part of the Apprenticeship framework - a great start to your career. 

Course content

As an apprentice you will gain valuable experience and occupational competence within your workplace setting. You will be employed and, under supervision, your job would working as a Warehouse Operative. Working as part of a team, you may be required to load/unload vehicles. You will also have delegated responsibility for the correct selection and packing of customer orders, ensuring they are ready for despatch on time.

You will need to achieve a minimum of 41 – 52 credits (dependent on which qualification you will follow) from completing mandatory units and a selection of optional units. The optional units will be decided in negotiation with your assessor and employer and are based on your job role with your organisation.

You will also have to complete functional skills level 1 in maths and English, Employment Responsibilities and Rights and Personal Learning and Thinking Skills.

Entry requirements

Acceptance on this course will be determined through completion of functional skill entry assessments and a vocational assessment carried out by the College. Assessment

There will be continuous assessment both on and off the job to record your practical skills and knowledge. You will also be assessed for functional skills at the College.

On completion of your Apprenticeship, you may progress into;

  • a Team Leading Advanced Apprenticeship
  • a Logistics Operations Advanced Apprenticeship
  • a Driving Goods Vehicle Advanced Apprenticeship
  • a Warehousing and Storage Advanced Apprenticeship
  • a variety of jobs in the Warehousing industry.
