The Introduction to Business Enterprise BTEC Certificate programme is designed to meet the needs of employers and to prepare students for the world of business. The programme aims to provide an education and vocational background for young people working to obtain a career in a range of jobs such as office administration, financial services, customer service, sales and retailing, distribution and manufacturing. Emphasis is placed on key skills in a business context, such as Communication and Numeracy.
This programme introduces the exciting world of enterprise and entrepreneurship and provides you with an understanding of what it takes to run a successful business. You will learn about different elements of business providing you with transferable skills for work in most industries.
You will learn through a range of assignments, tutorials, report writing, presentations, role plays and exams. You will also engage in GEM and GAP activities to develop your English, maths and employability skills.

Normally 4 GCSEs (grades A*-E), including English and maths, or satisfactory results in a relevant Level 1 qualification, and an interview.
This course offers access to a wide range of careers in business enabling individuals to progress into junior positions within areas such as finance, retailing, marketing and apprenticeships. Further career opportunities can be achieved by progression onto the higher level courses.
Progression to a BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma, Diploma or Extended Diploma in Business at Colchester Institute.
