History at St Aidan's and St John Fisher's Associated Sixth Form

Course description

History is very highly regarded by universities as an entry subject. Many of our students go on to study it and it also forms a basis for courses in Law, Journalism, Finance, Business, Management, Museum and Archive work.

The subject is enriched by a trip to London, visiting the Imperial War Museum, the Palace of Westminster and the Cabinet War Rooms.

AS Units:

Unit 1: Britain 1906-1951
Unit 2: The Impact of Stalin’s Leadership of the Soviet Union, 1924-1941

A2 Units:

Unit 3: The Making of Modern Britain, 1951-2007
Unit 4: Personal Study

Entry requirements

It is preferable for students to have studied History at GCSE and achieved a grade B or above. A grade B in English Language is also preferred.
