BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Creative Digital Media Production

Course content

This qualification is aimed at broadening and extending a work related focus that prepare learners for employment in the Creative and Media industry. It is suitable for those learners who have decided that they wish to enter this area of work or continue onto higher education.

The qualification is broadly equivalent to one GCE A level.

Compulsory units include:

Media representations

Pre-production portfolio

Responding to a commission

Optional units could include:

Film production

Digital magazine production

Entry requirements

5 A*-C including English and Maths

Assessment

Two of the units are internally assessed and marked by teachers. The remaining two units are externally assessed by Edexcel. One unit is an exam.

Future opportunities

The creative and digital media industry in this country is the third largest employer and this course may help you get a related job in areas such as advertising, magazine publishing, marketing or working for a TV shopping channel. It will also allow you to progress to Level 4 courses where you can study media in even greater and more specialised detail.
