Photography 90 Credit Diploma at Solihull College & University Centre
Progression from the 90 credit diploma leads to a 2nd year on an extended diploma or foundation degree.
You will be studying 18 Units over 2 academic years to obtain the Extended Diploma, 9 of which you complete in Year 1 (90 Credit Diploma), focusing on areas of art and photography theory, film and darkroom, studio and digital manipulation.

To apply for a place on this highly popular course, you need to hold at least 4 GCSEs including English Language and Art at a grade 'C/4' or above. You should have an interest in art and photography, be able to work in a team as well as be independent, creative and willing to experiment and explore new things.

You must complete all 18 Units over the 2 year programme in order to achieve the full Extended Diploma.
There are 5 core units which must be completed in the first year of the 90 credit diploma, with 4 specialist units.
The second year of study on the Extended Diploma covers another 9 units, one of which is a double Final Major Project unit, where you can specialise in a project or theme of your choice.
Assessment is via practical assignments, course work, presentations and class work in each unit. You will be awarded a Pass, Merit or Distinction grade for each completed Unit.
If you are successful on this course, you will be able to continue studying on a degree programme at University or internally here at Solihull College. The majority of our students stay with us on the HND in Photography.
This is a specialist course and requires particular equipment. A manual SLR camera is a requirement of the course with an upgrade to a digital SLR in the 2nd year. There is a kit payment of £130 which is payable at enrolment, that includes all equipment
and materials for the year of study.
