If you are aged between 16-18 and not sure which path to take, then why not consider a traineeship at a professional football club?

A fantastic opportunity to gain work experience and learn new skills, offering career progression paths within a sport and leisure environment. Your chance to be part of a Traineeship programme with your local football club.

You will spend three days a week at a professional club where you will get the chance to shadow professional members of club staff and community football coaches

After successfully completing 12 weeks of employability skills, leadership qualifications and 100 hours of work experience, you will progress further with Sheffield United Community Foundation. We run a shorter study programme at level 1 as well as delivering maths and English to the level you are capable.

Is this classed as full-time education? The first 12 weeks is NOT, however, the traineeship offers a luxury bursary for learners. After successfully completing the traineeship the learner will move back into full-time education as part of a study programme.

What are the entry grades? There are no minimum entry grades for these education programmes.

Assessment

Functional skills Maths and English examination.

Sports Coaching portfolio 

Work Placement (planning, delivering and evaluating a sports coaching lesson) 

Financial information

£30 bursary per week, if applicable

Future opportunities

Once you have completed the short course you can progress on to one of our full time education courses and continue your studies or use the qualification to help you find employment in the sports industry.
