Course description

Never has the profund effect of Design and Technology been more apparent - witness the regular reported developments in food production. The social, moral, economic, and environmental effects of these developments are an increasing cause for concern. This course explores the issues, and, whilst developing the candidates ability to both design and produce high quality products, encourages the understanding and implications of industrial design and production processes.

Assessment

Year 12
Unit 1 - Examination - 2 hours
Unit 2 - Folio and practical work
Year 13
Unit 3 - Examination – 2½ hours
Unit 4 - Folio and practical
Units 1 and 3 externally assessed. Units 2 and 4 internally assessed, (externally moderated). Units 1 and 2 can be taken after 1 year, or for A2, all 4 units can be assessed at the end of 2 years.
