Course content

This is a one year course during which you will complete up to 8 units; 4 of these are core units, and one unit is externally set and taken in supervised, timed conditions.

You will develop a creative portfolio of work that demonstrates your understanding of Art & Design processes. Students explore the work of professional artists and designers to influence thier own ideas and inspire their own work and development. You will explore the work of other contemporary/historical artists and designers through gallery visits, and book and internet based research. There is the opportunity to explore the visual language of artists as well as presenting research gathered from various sources. You will explore and develop a range of techniques (including drawing, graphic design and mixed media) in order to create your own artwork and will develop an understanding of how art is used commercially.

This is an intense course as there is much to cover in one year. Therefore you need to be motivated, eager to learn new skills and able to organise your time well in order to meet deadlines.
