Vehicle Maintenance Level 1 Diploma at Basingstoke College of Technology

Course description

This course provides a varied and interesting introduction to working in a vehicle maintenance role.

Course content

The course covers a wide range of subjects including:

  • Contribute to good house keeping
  • Ensure your own actions reduce risks to health and safety
  • Workshop processes
  • Carry out basic routine maintenance

 

Attendance of 100% is necessary in order to complete the course.

Students may also choose to study for a GCSE to increase their qualifications, or to resit a previous GCSE subject to improve a grade. To enhance employment opportunities the course may also have additional qualifications built into the programme.

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs grade E and above including Maths and English or Entry Level Diploma in Vehicle Systems and Functional Skills at an appropriate level.

Assessment

The course is continuously assessed by both practical and written assignments/tests.

Financial information

If you are aged 16-18, tuition and registration fees are free. 
If you are aged 19 or over, tuition and registration fees are payable at the start of each year of study; please ask for details.
If you are aged 24 or over, you may be eligible for a Student Loan to assist with your fees; please ask for details.

Future opportunities

This course is a recognised route into a full-time Level 2 course or employment, including an Apprenticeship.

Further information

Students will be required to purchase personal protective equipment (boots, overalls and safety glasses) and a starter tool kit which are essential for this course.  Items can be purchased directly from an approved College supplier at an approximate cost of £150; order forms will be provided during new student day.
