Plumbing and Heating Intermediate and Advanced Apprenticeship at Grimsby Institute

Course description

Plumbing is a key part of the UK’s construction industry.

Plumbers must be familiar with everything from domestic boilers to advanced welding techniques.

As an Apprentice you will learn about the installation and maintenance of plumbing systems and components.

On the Advanced Apprenticeship, your skills base will broaden to include working
with oil and gas-fired commercial and industrial heating systems and you’ll be able to
enter the profession at a higher level.

As a Plumber, you will find yourself working in many different places – from construction sites to residential homes.

Course content

Training is delivered on a day release basis at the Institute where a Tutor will monitor
your progress.

Entry requirements

Most occupations require a minimum of grade C in English, Maths and ICT, although some only require a minimum of grade D.

Some occupations within the Engineering sector will require Science at a minimum of grade C.

A Vocational Assessment may have to be taken and passed for some Apprenticeships before acceptance onto the programme.

Assessment

You will be allocated an Assessor who will conduct assessments in the
workplace.
