Business Studies BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma at Brownhills School
Business Studies is not just a theory-based subject, it is about real life. It will help students learn about businesses and the way they operate in today’s society. Students will gain skills that will be useful in setting up their own business, as well as being a basis for a wide range of occupations such as marketing, accountancy and business management. Alternatively, it will enable students to complete further study of Business Studies at university.
Real life case studies and news/ documentaries will actively engage students in the study of Business Studies, to develop effective and independent students, as well as critical and reflective thinkers with enquiring minds.
The BTEC Nationals in Business have been developed in the Business Sector to focus on:
- Training for working in administration, marketing, human resources, accountancy, ICT and the legal and management areas of business.
- Providing the opportunity to gain a nationally recognised vocationally specific qualification to enter employment in the business sector.
- Giving you the opportunity to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal skills and attitudes essential for successful performance in working life.
You will follow six core units:
- Exploring Business Activity; Investigating Business Resources; Introduction to Marketing; Business Accounting; Communication and Information; Creative Product Promotion
Admission criteria varies according to the programme. Priority will be given on all courses to students who have an A*- C in English and Maths.
There are no examinations and all assessment is assignment based and ongoing.
Deadlines set by staff need to be met in order for students to progress.
Students will either gain a Pass, Merit Distinction or Distinction* depending on the criteria of each particular unit and assignment brief.
