Beauty Therapy City and Guilds Foundation Diploma Level 1 at Fareham College

Course description

On this full-time vocational course you will learn practical skills supported by the completion of written assignments on a variety of beauty therapy related subjects.

You will develop sound skills that prepare you for a career in a salon, including teamwork and client relations.

All practical skills will be observed and assessed regularly throughout the academic year.

Our Beauty Therapy Students learn from the hands-on exposure & expectation of paying customers from the Gosport & Fareham communities.

Salon141 offers excellent opportunities for students who will experience every aspect of the Hair & Beauty industry ensuring that they leave with the competence & confidence to work in and manage a modern, professional salon.

Course content

  • Introduction to the hair and beauty sector

  • Salon reception

  • Health and safety and risk assessment

  • Nail art

  • Teamwork in the salon

  • Skin care

  • Hand care

  • Basic make-up application

  • Photographic make-up

  • Themed face painting

  • Basic manicure

 

Entry requirements

  • Maths and English at Entry Level 3.
  • You must be committed to; 100% attendance, excellent punctuality and be willing to work hard.
  • Entry is dependent upon a successful interview.

Financial information

One or two (depending on course) salon uniforms, kits & textbooks are essential requirements of our courses. A list is available on request and students may purchase these through the College.

You may incur additional costs while on work placements.

Future opportunities

You may progress onto the Level 2 Beauty Therapy or Level 2 Hairdressing programmes upon successful completion of this course.

Continuous training is a feature of this profession if you want to develop a full career.

This qualification should equip you with the skills to gain employment as a junior assistant in a beauty salon or hairdressing salon.

 Graduates go on to perform a number of industry-related roles including: Junior Assistant/Stylist, Mobile Therapist, Salon Therapist, Salon Manager, and Senior Stylist/Technician. Successful careers on cruise liners, in Health Hydros or spas or in TV/Film production arts & magazine media have been achieved.
