Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools - Level 3 Diploma at Chichester College

Course description

This course is designed to develop the advanced skills, knowledge and performance of teaching support staff in schools. Taught subjects include: • Relationships, • Supporting & Assessing Learning, • Literacy & Numeracy, • Inclusion & Special Needs, • Health & Safety, • Professional Practice. You will be assessed by a College Assessor, who mentors and guides you, providing meaningful feedback on your practice enabling you to develop within your role.

Course content

The course is delivered using a blended approach, combining taught sessions and assessment in the workplace, and comprises: • Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools.

You will attend a monthly workshop in the college, over 9 months with themed sessions based on the core skills in teaching and learning. 

 

Entry requirements

A recommended 6 months practice in the workplace is advisable, to ensure the level of competence can be evidenced in the portfolio.

Assessment

Assessment will take place in the workplace, with a dedicated Assessor, a portfolio of evidence will be collated over the period of learning.

Future opportunities

Candidates can progress to supervisory roles, such as Team
Leader, Higher Level Teaching Assistant roles, through completion
of the HLTA programme.

 

Further information

Throughout the course, you will be supported in the work place by an
Assessor. In class a variety of technology is used to facilitate
teaching, learning and assessment. You will be enrolled on to Chionline
which will provide further support for all students.
