Business Level 3 at Woking College

Course description

Deepen your critical understanding of business organisations and the markets they serve. Business behaviour is studied from the perspectives of a range of stakeholders, including customers, employees, shareholders, the Government and the local community. Students will study business start-ups, financial planning, people and operations management, marketing, business strategy and the business environment.

Course content

BTEC Foundation Diploma

Four compulsory units:

  • Unit 1: Exploring Business
  • Unit 2: Developing a Marketing Campaign
  • Unit 3: Personal and Business Finance
  • Unit 4: Managing an Event

Then, two from the following:

  • Unit 8: Recruitment and Selection Process
  • Unit 10: Recording Financial Transactions
  • Unit 13: Management Accounting
  • Unit 14: Investigating Customer Services
  • Unit 16: Visual Merchandising
  • Unit 17: Digital Marketing
  • Unit 19: Pitching for a New Business
  • Unit 22: Market Research
  • Unit 23: The English Legal System
  • Unit 24: Employment Law
  • Unit 27: Work Experience in Business

BTEC Extended Diploma

Seven compulsory units:

  • Unit 1: Exploring Business

Future opportunities

Students who have successfully completed the course have either gone on to do further study at degree level, or started work in a trainee role.  Many go on to study Business at university, however others have gone on to study Quantity Surveying, Accounting and Outdoor Pursuits.

Covering a wide range of topics, and developing a wide range of skills, the course is designed to make you more attractive to employers.  The vocational nature of the course means that you will be required to apply what you learn in class to different business situations.  Consequently, you will be better prepared to deal with real-life workplace situations, as and when they arise.
