Cleaning and Environmental Services Apprenticeship Level 2 at The College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London

Course description

The Apprenticeship programme is a mix of real work and learning, combining valuable experience on the job with focussed and relevant training and follows a Level 2 programme of training over 6-8 months.

This programme covers many aspects of professional cleaning, from mechanised street cleaning to the maintenance of hard floors. There's more to cleaning than most people realise - cleaning staff can sometimes work at crime and accident scenes, or for the National Health Service ensuring cleanliness of hospital wards, waiting rooms and offices.

Apprentices will learn a range of cleaning techniques and skills including health and safety, working effective with customers and others and communication skills.


Competence Element - Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Cleaning and Support Services - Practical skills and knowledge used in the role

Technical Element - Level 2 Certificate in Cleaning Principles - Skills and Knowledge required to perform the role

Skills Element - English Level 1 - Maths Level 1 - Written and verbal communication - Use of numerical data

Other Additional Study - Employment Responsibilities and Rights - Knowledge of the responsibilities and rights of workers, the role of the organisation within the wider industry and the effect of public law and policy on industry.

Entry requirements

You must already be working within the Industry. Candidate will need to achieve Entry Level 3 at English initial assessment and Entry Level 3 at Maths initial assessment.


Assessment is carried out by practical observation, oral questioning, portfolio development.

Future opportunities

You could progress to Level 3 qualifications and apprenticeships.
