IT Diploma - Level 1 at Vision West Nottinghamshire College
This programme is split into two key parts: a technical qualification and Functional Skills.
On successful completion, you’ll be able to undertake a wide range of information technology courses.
The diploma is made up of 14 units, allowing you to further develop your skills in areas such as:
- Two GCSEs with at least 3 points (grade D), one of which must be English or maths.
- Students with no formal qualifications but with an interest in the industry would be considered.
You will need to attend an interview with the tutor before being accepted on to the course. You may also need to supply at least one written reference from a teacher or employer (in some cases two) and/or your current school or college report.
Mature students (those aged 21 or over) who do not have the qualifications required for entry may still be eligible, subject to an interview. Relevant experience, a strong portfolio of work and a commitment to the subject you wish to study may be acceptable for certain courses.
The course is mainly assessed on the coursework that you complete. You will be set a number of assignments to challenge and test your knowledge throughout the course.
This course will prepare you for employment and provides a good grounding to go onto a more advanced course. Normally a candidate needs to show a high level of performance and commitment to progress onto our Level 3 course (Merit or Distinctions at Level 2). With further training or study you can go onto a career as a trainee programmer, trainee web developer or a role in IT services.
