Course description

AIMS OF THE COURSE:
To build on the skills, knowledge and experience gained at GCSE and to develop creative and imaginative approaches to the subject and how it relates to the real world.

WHY STUDY THIS SUBJECT?
If you are curious about the built environment within which we live, and motivated towards design and making things, you will enjoy this subject. The multi-media approach including Resistant Materials and Graphic Products provides a variety of options within coursework modules.

Course content

You will identify design briefs based on personal interest and experience for a coursework project involving all stages of the design process through to manufacture. Throughout the project, other syllabus requirements are covered, including manufacturing processes, industrial processes, marketing influences, the environment, social and moral implications, and health and safety.

Assessment

Coursework 25% and Exams 75%
