Apprenticeship in Hairdressing or Barbering at Level 2 at The Link Training Academy

Course description

Level 2 is ideal if you have already completed Level 1 at school, a previous full time course or if you are really passionate about hair and want to become a stylist.

There are two qualifications we offer at this level:

Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Hairdressing

Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Barbering

Course content

The framework for the apprenticeship will include:

Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Hairdressing;

functional skills at the level required for the course;

a small qualification in Employment Rights and Responsibilities;

mapping across of personal learning and thinking skills.

Entry requirements

A-C's in Maths and English are not neccesary, however they will help you move through the course faster.

Good communication skills and a passion for hair.


Assessment will take place in the workplace and in the training salon.

Assessment will be practical observation, assessment of written work and on line testing linked to the awarding body.

Financial information

The couse is fully funded by the EFSA

Learners will require a kit and a uniform to start the course

Future opportunities

All learners will have the opportunities to progress on to level 3 once level 2 has been completed.

Further information

All learners will be interviewed and offered the opportunity for a taster day in the training salon.

Help and advice will be given to support looking for employment within the hairdresisng industry.

    • Based in Huddersfield town centre,  a fully functional salon  from Wednesdays  through to Saturdays, The Link Training academy, with full use of the salon over two floors with a classroom area  for all theory work and a canteen for breaks and lunch. The location gives a large client base for the training salon, and working in a proffesional salon as a stylists gives students the best possible experience for when they qualify and go to work in a commercal salon.
