I.T.and Digital Media-Access2 Apprenticeships at PM Training

Course description

Foundation learning courses are available for different ages: 16-19 year olds. These courses are for young people who are leaving school with little or no GCSE qualifications, are not certain of what vocational area to move into and need a bit more support with English and maths. They may also need to develop their confidence and other social skills and perhaps need more support in smaller group sizes. These courses are called Access2 Courses and we offer a range of flexible courses that prepare you for progressing onto a vocational programme, traineeship or apprenticeship. You can choose from a range of vocational areas including IT, dital media, marketing, business admin, customer service, engineering, electrics, construction, joinery, painting and decorating, horticulture, brickwork etc

Course content

Access2 is a course that can start you on the path to gaining the skills needed in the world of work. You will gain REAL work experience to help you to understand the employment opportunities that you can choose from in your apprenticeship. Additionally, you will also work to develop your personal and employability skills by completing sessions on teamwork, work ethics, and personal finance. Functional Skills of maths, English and ICT are also integral to the course.

Entry requirements

No formal requirements, but you will have a pre-induction interview/assessment to make sure this is the right level for you.

Assessment

Assessment is on-going throughout the course. For each unit that you work on, you will have to complete an assessment to evidence your learning and understanding. Your tutor will tell you when the assessments will take place. You must successfully pass all of the unit assessments in order to pass the course successfully.

Financial information

Support is given to all learners to assist them during their training. Learners receive an attendance bonus, free travel, free refreshments and breakfasts.

Future opportunities

Support is provided to identify progression pathways that are appropriate to the individual. Progression is generally onto an apprenticeship in the chosen career area however it can sometimes be onto higher level study or direct into employment.
