Art and Design: Fine Art at Willenhall E-ACT Academy

Course description

This GCSE course provides experience of both traditional and digital photography through two coursework projects. Students learn how to take a basic photograph and even how to make a camera. Part of the course involves the use of the darkroom to chemically develop black and white pictures and this form part of the first project on “Darkroom Photography”. Computer programmes are used to help create digital pieces of work in the second project on “Animation” in which students create and bring to life their own plastecine characters. There is a practical examination at the end of the course in which students have 10 hours to produce a main piece based upon a given theme or topic. Students are not required to have their own cameras. Assessment is by coursework (60%) and practical exam (40%).
