Warehousing and Storage Apprenticeships (Intermediate and Advanced) What do the Warehousing and Storage Apprenticeships cover?

The Level 2 Certificate in Warehousing and Storage covers a wide range of skills that can be applied on a variety of warehousing environments.

It’s suitable for small or large warehousing businesses, ranging from small logistics companies, warehousing in shops and centres to depots and distribution centres.

What will my day-to-day job be as a Warehousing and Storage Apprentice?

The role you do can be as varied and as wide-ranging as the businesses mentioned above.

It will depend on your employer and size of the business but, as an example, you could be working in the warehouse receiving goods from suppliers, checking in deliveries, palletising stock, racking away, preparing outbound stock, and distributing goods.

The Level 3 Diploma in Warehousing and Storage Apprenticeship, will see your training focus on specific skills in your preferred area. From this you will also be given more responsibility, including developing management skills. Development could include managing the health and safety of others, preparing the team for deliveries, recruitment, releasing vehicles for use and developing others within the team.

Career Progression after the Warehousing and Storage Apprenticeship

Although the exact role will differ from company to company, the skills you learn and develop in Warehousing and Storage will be very transferable and applicable to all logistics companies.

Course content

Warehousing and Storage Apprenticeships - Level 2 & 3 NVQ allows an individual to learn and gain a nationally recognised qualification. National Vocational Qualifications are designed to meet the standards set by industry in occupational areas. They are designed to cover various aspects of a job or area of work, assessing skills actually used in the workplace.

The Technical Certificate develops understanding and skills which can be adapted to a work setting. Functional Skills are the skills which are most commonly needed to succeed in a range of activities, learning to use and adapt communication and number skills in a range of settings and contexts. Personal Learning and Thinking Skills are assessed throughout the programme.

Entry requirements

No formal qualifications are required but individuals should be enthusiastic, motivated, reliable and prepared to work hard. Good communication skills are essential and it is important to be understanding and show respect for others.

Assessment

Individuals will be assessed by observation in the workplace, by completing a portfolio of evidence or E-Portfolio and by completing a variety of externally marked assessments. Support is offered in the workplace.

Future opportunities

Either progress Apprenticeship Levels and progress within a company.
