Art and Design BTEC Level 3 at Collingwood College

Course description

This is a course which has a vocational focus and will prepare you for a career path in art and design.

The first year (Certificate) consists of 3 units and is equivalent to an AS level. The second year (Subsidiary Diploma) consists of a further 3 units and is then equivalent to an A level qualification.

Course content

Year 1 will consist of 3 units:

  • Visual Recording
  • Materials Techniques and Processes
  • Ideas and Concepts


Year 2 will consist of a further 3 units:

  • Communication Through Art and Design
  • Painting
  • Photography


You will study a wide range of creative processes including, painting drawing printmaking, 3D, textiles & fashion, photography, design and IT. We expect you to work in your own time and complete homework which will be accessed weekly.

Entry requirements

Minimum of 4 A*-C grades at GCSE, including Art and Design.

Assessment

The course is 100% coursework. All units are equally weighted.

Future opportunities

Completion of this course will prepare you for a broad range of careers in the area of Art depending on your chosen specialism. There are also a wide variety of higher education/university courses for you to choose from if you would like to further your studies in Art and Design.
