Drama and Theatre A-Level at The Ockendon Academy & Studio School
Students will study the work and methodologies of one influential theatre practitioner (individual or companies) in Year 12 and two theatre practitioners in Year 13.
GCSE grade B or above in Drama.
GCSE grade 4 or above in English.
Unit 1: Devising, 40%
· Students devise a piece of theatre which they then perform. They will record the process in a portfolio.
Unit 2: Text in Performance, 20%
· Group performance from a performance text. Students will perform a mono/duo from a different text.
Unit 3: Theatre Makers in Practice, 40% exam
· Choice of one set text from six. This must be explored practically. Interpretation of a text as a director. Evaluation of a piece of live theatre students have seen. The exam is 2 hours and 30 minutes.
It is excellent preparation for a degree in Drama or Drama School training.
The skills developed are also relevant to many different academic and professional areas, combining very well with other Arts, Humanities and English.
