This is A BTEC course

The specification builds on concepts and skills developed in OCR Nationals in ICT and GCSE ICT.  It encourages students to develop an enthusiasm for ICT and practical skills as well as an understanding of concepts. 

This course is accepted for entry onto a wide range of higher education courses.

Course content

Year 1 - Unit 1 Communication and Employability Skills for IT

Year 1 - Unit 2 Computer Systems

Year 1 - Unit 28 Website Production

Year 2 - 3 Optional Units - In addition to the mandatory units, you will choose a further three optional units that may include :

  • Digital Graphics
  • Project Planning with IT
  • e-Commerce
  • Impact of the Use of IT on Business Systems

Entry requirements

Students must have achieved a minimum Grade C GCSE in ICT or a Pass in OCR Nationals in ICT (or equivalent) for entry onto this course.

These specifications are designed to give a broad introduction to this sector and aim to prepare candidates for further study in higher education or further training which might be whilst in employment.  Candidates who achieve these qualifications may be prepared to enter a variety of HND or degree level courses in ICT and Business Information Systems.
