Barbering Apprenticeship Level 2 at Bath College

Course description

This course is for people who want the necessary knowledge and skills to work as a barber. This qualification also provides suitable progression opportunities to a level 3 apprenticeship. In this course you will learn how to carry out treatments including cutting hair, cutting facial hair, basic patterns, perm and neutralise and colouring men’s hair.

Entry requirements

Expected GCSE (or equivalent) at grades D or above in 3 subjects


Assessment of the NVQ is carried out in the workplace and at college and the assessor will help you to identify any gaps through exercises and activities set between assessment visits.

The functional skills elements will be assessed in college with a tutor.

Future opportunities

The qualification allows a candidate to progress to either the workplace as detailed above or onto specialised qualifications at the same, or higher level.
