Biology GCSE Resit at Bridgwater College

Course description

Anyone who is interested in biology and is ready to achieve at least a grade C within a year.

Course content

The course aims to teach students a practical understanding of the underlying principles of human and other life forms. You will study three units:

Unit 1: Health, coordination, ecology and gene technology

Unit 2: Cells, enzymes, photosynthesis, respiration and genetics

Unit 3: Circulation, excretion and environmental issues

Entry requirements

  • You will need at least three GCSE passes at grade C or above. Some exceptional cases will be considered
  • You will need some knowledge of Science and an enthusiasm for Biology

Assessment

  • One written paper of one hour for each unit (75%)
  • Investigative skills assessment (design & carry out a practical + 2 written papers 25%)

Future opportunities

Jobs such as basic laboratory work, health care assistant etc. If you gain at least a B in this and four other GCSEs you can progress to AS levels and other level 3 courses.
