Financial Studies Level 3 Diploma at Cirencester College

Course description

A comprehensive introduction to personal finance, this course develops the knowledge and skills required for young people to make informed financial decisions by introducing them to the risks and challenges involved in personal finance and the tools for effective planning. Through developing core skills of critical analysis and evaluation, synthesis and written communication, it provides a foundation for further study in business and finance-related disciplines, as well as a wide range of other fields.
This two year course is tailored for students interested in entering financial services as a career.

Course content

You will study units as follows:

Year 1 (Certificate)

Why Money Matters

Risk and reward in personal finance.

Making personal financial judgments.

Financial capabilities in medium and short term.



Year 2 (Diploma)

Financial capabilities in medium and long term.

In addition to providing an important life skill, the certificate is equivalent to an AS Level and the Diploma is equivalent to a full A Level and offers the same UCAS points.



Exams in January and May.

Future opportunities

Students may choose to progress on to a finance or business related degree in Higher Education.
